Which would affect trade (negatively) between Germany and Canada more: Tariffs or Investment Regulations…?

March 2, 2010 - 5:03 pm 1 Comment

I am doing a project where I have to pick a barrier to International Trade, and discuss why it would be a barrier to trade between two countries (I chose Germany and Canada). I was just wondering which barrier (either Tariffs or Investment Regulations) would be the larger barrier to international trade between them and why? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

-Thanks

You should of picked China/US and Tariffs are worse overall. Investment regulations are nothing and virtually meaningless as well for trade deals.

Is Europe / EU’s antitrust litigation against Google, Intel, Microsoft nothing more than trade tariffs?

Governments are vile and corrupt. They say they don’t believe in trade barriers and tariffs, and so they change the name "tariff" to "anti-trust suit" and they still extort money from American companies, just because they are too uninspired and unskilled as a Continent to innovate technology themselves.

These sick bureaucrats are the ones committing International Crimes (i.e. unlawful trade barriers and tariffs) but the bastards have the nerve to say it’s American companies who are committing crimes! Is this not proof that all large governments are corrupt and need to be 1/10th as powerful?
Do you agree or not?

Yes

how does reductions in tariffs and other trade barriers help a country’s economy? ?

February 16, 2010 - 3:39 pm 3 Comments

It doesn’t, it only helps the big businesses make more money by importing goods from foreign countries made by prison or slave labor and making huge profits by doubling or tripling their money on it. This of course is what causes their own country’s businesses to go under because they cannot pay a living wage and benefits and be competitive. Simple as that.

Does Tariffs help us to maintain a favorable balance of trade and balance of payments.?

Sometimes Tariffs help to maintain a balance and sometimes they help to create an imbalance. Usually they are used as a protectionist strategy or as a punitive strategy by one government against another.

The purpose of the Genral Agreement on Tariffs and Rade was to?

February 7, 2010 - 4:47 pm 2 Comments

a) Negotiate reductions in tarifs among major industrialized countries.
b) Prevent a return to protectionsim experienced in the 1930’s.
c) Increase world trade and prosperity for all nations.
d) Consider the reduction of non-tariff barriers to trade.
e) All of the above.

"E" is right one.

How would you vote in this case on the U.S. International Trade Commission to impose high tariffs on Chinese..?

February 5, 2010 - 5:39 am 2 Comments

Thirty furniture makers in the United States recently asked the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) to impose high tariffs on Chinese makers of wooden products in the U.S. market extremely low prices. The U.S. manufacturers claimed that the Chinese imports single-handedly sent their industry into a deep tailspin. The Chinese factory owners contend their low-cost furniture is the result of taking a labor-intensive product and building it with low-priced workers in high-tech modern factories (Adapted from Scarborough & Zimmerer, 2006, p. 399).

How would you vote in this case? Explain in-depth

I just want the opinion of others. Thanks

Should Mexicans have the right to bear arms & defend themselves against foreigner terrorists in border areas?

Especially in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua and Tijuana, Baja California. Where the coward terrorists are attacking Mexicans, blaming on drug cartels. Well we all know those cartels are funded, financed , and directed by American mafias. So, supply and demand stick together as I said. We all need guns to protect from terrorists, because terrorists love illegal drugs and easy money.

What e.g’s are there of the US imposing trade barriers (quotas/tariffs) as it lost competitiveness with China?

January 31, 2010 - 10:38 am 1 Comment

There were import quotas on textiles from China which caused many retailers to diversify their suppliers – as a result you see tremendous growth in suppliers from India. Some quotas have been raised since then. Look for more barriers to come to even the playing field.

2.What motivates politicians to impose tariffs, quotas, and other trade restriction?

1. To protect home industries from competition because the home industries will lay off people and create a headache for the goverment at times.

2. To protect cronies from competition, and also skim profits off foriegn investors.

3. A leaders may impose captial controls when hot money, or funny money enters the market for one purpose to make a quick profit not really make investment into the country.

4. Election time is coming for a poltican gotta protect the poor farmers to keep thier job.

5. America never praticed capitalism like the textbook claim back in the early 20th century certian industries had the goverment put up traiffs of 400% to protect the industry from competition and politcains load thier pockets of cash.
