The Trade Trap – Ghana

March 5, 2010 - 8:27 pm 25 Comments

January 2003
Countries like Ghana are desperate to trade their way out of poverty. But EU regulations and cheap imports are stifling their industries. Ghana’s markets are flooded with subsidised American maize. Farmers are being priced out of their own markets. While the EU is removing some quotas and tariffs, its list of stringent requirements makes it virtually impossible for Ghanaians to export their goods.

How can the Red Sox and Indians make a trade after the trade deadline?

March 2, 2010 - 5:02 pm 6 Comments

They traded a player to be named for Paul Byrd, how it’s after the trade deadline.
Wow Chillwax you must have great people skills.

The non waiver deadline passed. After that, is the wavier trade period. Players can passed through waivers and still be traded. When waived, other teams can claim them (based on standings), if claimed the original team can rescind the waiver and take him back, trade the player to claiming team, or release him outright to the claiming team. If the player passes without being claimed, he can be traded.

How many times a day should I make a trade when trading forex?

February 28, 2010 - 5:42 pm 6 Comments

I am going to turn 18 tomorrow and I’ve had a practice account for several months and have been experimenting with it all that time, trying different strategies and techniques and have found a way to keep on making small consistent profits. What I’d like to know is for when the time comes tomorrow to put in real money, what would be a recommended number of times I place a trade every day I trade forex to make small consistent profits? Good answers would be much appreciated. Thanks.

The amount of trades would depend on the type strategy your applying. Your amount of trades depends on the market itself and how many signals are generated by your strategy. Don’t set a goal of how many trades you have to enter or how much you have to make every day, the market and its movements determine that for you. Setting a goal of how many trades or how much you have to make every day is setting yourself up for failure trying to reach that goal in a $ amount. Its better to focus on trading to be successful and becoming profitable at the end of the day, week, month, year instead of how much you will make. That will take care of itself if your consistently profitable.

What is the best way to learn how to trade options on soybean futures?

February 26, 2010 - 3:05 pm 4 Comments

I would like to learn on my own. Are there any free sites or good books that would include the ticker symbols so that I can virtual trade them for practice? Also, I am level four in trading options in my IRA account. Can options on futures be traded in an IRA account? Thanks!

Hi,

I am a retired futures trader. The best way is to move to Chicago and get a job in one the the trading pits and learn the basics from the ground up. Trying to learn this stuff from a book is almost impossible and yes there are a plethora of books out there, but the trading pit is the best way.

Go to Amazon, enter "futures trading" and select a book. Most of the stories you hear about some individual making millions are guys who got lucky, bet against the trend and made millions. Then, they will sell you a book on how they did it. Problem is it won’t work and you will be out. They made a lucky guess. Doesn’t tell about the thousands that lost their shirts and pants in this zero-sum game.

Kindest Personal Regards,

How can I trade in my Qwest phone to a to get my new Verizon phone online?

February 24, 2010 - 2:32 pm 1 Comment

If you don’t know Qwest will be Verizon in october. They are offering current subscribers a trade in program to get a new phone. I have heard you can do this online. Anyone know how to or has done it already?

I have had a miserable experience trading my broken Qwest pocet pc for a Verizon phone. I have been on the phone for hours and hours…4 hours today alone. Each time I get forwarded to someone else or from Qwest to Verizon…and back! Yesterday was the first day the Qwest employees had been able to do this transition. The rep ordered me a new Verizon phone comparable to my pocket pc. Then at the last minute he said, "oops! the Fed Ex delivery address shows your PO box, not your physical address and I can’t change it at this point." Then he said, "But don’t worry…Fed Ex has ways of finding your physical address from your PO Box." Well, my po box is associated with an address where I lived before travelling and living in India for 6 months last year. So…I have called Fed Ex …they can’t find the order…Qwest/Verizon can’t find the order either so I can’t get a tracking number. I am told if I ever do receive the phone to understand that on day 30 after the activation of the product, I am automatically signed up with a contract. BE CAREFUL.
GOOD LUCK….HOPE YOURS IS BETTER THAN MINE.

can someone explain to me the difference between fair trade and free trade ?

February 22, 2010 - 5:30 pm 4 Comments

I kind of get the difference between fair trade and free trade, but which do you think is better for our country and other countries and why?

Fair trade is when the consumer or company decides to purchase goods from others who can ensure fair wages and decent working conditions for the people who make that product.

Free trade on the other hand is where companies are allowed to trade with others without restrictions or sanctions.
