does registered rep need to report every trade in his/her own accounts?

February 7, 2010 - 4:48 pm 2 Comments

It depends on the policies of your broker/dealer. There is not any specific securities regulation that requires trades be disclosed, but the broker/dealer is required to be in compliance with various trading rules (including trading ahead of clients or insider trading) . I have worked at firms that actually required prenotification of all trades and at firms that only required a copy of quarterly statements.

Is trade with China a form of appeasement or paid tribute since they do not buy our goods or revalue currency?

February 7, 2010 - 4:48 pm 3 Comments

Neither. Bank of China buys large quantities of U.S. government bonds, thereby helping to keep U.S. interest rates low and contributing to the expansion of home ownership in the U.S.

Also, recall that U.S. consulates in China have recently toughened visa requirements for business visitors; as a result, it is much more difficult for a Chinese business person to get a visa to go to the U.S. compared to a visa to go to Japan, Australia, or Europe. As a result, buying from the U.S. is severely impeded.

As to valuation of the currency, the yuan may well be overvalued. A fair relative valuation of two currencies is one that prevails in a free market when both countries are in external equilibrium (i.e., maintain a near-zero trade balance) and in internal equilibrium (i.e., unemployment is at a non-inflation-accelerating level). U.S. and China are clearly in an external disequilibrium (U.S. has a trade deficit, China, a trade surplus), so many people notice it and hasten to conclude that the yuan must be undervalued. What they don’t realize is that China has an enormous frictional unemployment problem. Every year, millions and millions of people move from the countryside into the cities, where they have a mighty hard time trying to make a living. Large unemployment would suggest that the currency is in fact overvalued…

Finally, inflation in China in recent years has been substantially higher than in the U.S., suggesting that the yuan is indeed overvalued…

"E" is right one.

You ready to follow the Messiah into a Trade war we cant win?

From the Article: "Friday night, Mr. Obama, responding to a complaint by the United Steelworkers, imposed a 35 percent tariff on Chinese tires for cars and light trucks. China quickly responded by threatening to retaliate against American auto products and chicken meat, raising fears of a possible trade war…"

I’m not the world’s best chess player by any stretch, but don’t we get 95 percent of our crap from China? And don’t we sell them very little by comparison?

They might stop buying government bonds? Fine, we stop buying their crap! If they call us on it, drastic measures will be necessary. The Fed can buy whatever China won’t. Inflation? Yeah, through the roof, but chess isn’t a bloodless game.

Smoot-Hawley wasn’t the right thing for Hoover during the Depression, and maybe it isn’t right for us now, but I don’t think the New World Order is all it’s cracked up to be either.

In the end, America can feed herself and when it comes right down to it, that’s what matters most.

EDIT
Me Too:
In case you don’t see it, this is not a partizan issue. This is an American issue! Get with the program!!

You know what Me Too? I just read the other answers. My appologies for singling you out!

Should I report payday loan company to the federal trade commissions?

February 7, 2010 - 4:46 pm 3 Comments

I made the mistake of taking out several loans that I cannot paid. I faxed letters stating that they can only contact me though mail, fax, or email. The two Payday loan companies I have not had a problem with but Ameriloan keeps calling me. They agreed to settle my account, which was fine, but refuse to put it in writing. I told them I have to have it in writing and they said they don’t do that. They call 1 every 3 days and also text message me. I told them, well if you don’t send me a written notice that debt is paid in full, then I’m not paying you. I think that’s fair, after all, I need proof that its paid in full. Should I report them for keep calling me.

You are correct for insisting that the terms are in writing….However, it is still within their right to call/contact you…This is not a violation of the law.

How can i trade some construction work for some helicopter flight lessons?

February 7, 2010 - 4:46 pm 5 Comments

I do construction for a living.I have always wanted to learn to fly helicopters. In these tough economic times its hard to fund schooling. There has gotta be somebody out there that willing to trade services.

As a helicotper pilot, i agree, it’s very tough, i would recommend searching local cities airports for small helicopter operators. Ya know, a small helo buisness owner, they’re the one’s you can barter with, but always be wary of who you train with, do some research, never pork out money, always pay as you go. flight for flight, ask any questions. Flying a helicopter is serious stuff, and there are too many people out there cutting corners.

Thanks
